Ryan and Heather's recent adventures!

These past few months have been so fun! Here's a little update on what's going on in our lives.

First, we graduated!! Yay! We're off to medical school - Ohio State University here we come (unless we hear from Rochester, NY ... keep your fingers crossed!)!! We move July 1st, right after Britain's wedding!

We're having fun this summer camping as well - and trying to get in as much hiking/outdoors as we can! The first pictures are from camping up in the Uintas with some close friends of ours. The river was incredibly cold - our feet stung for so long after we got out of that water. But the hike was fun - and beautiful!

These other pictures are us with the same friends down in Zions National Park. The first two are just fun ones along the hike. But the last one has a long story to go with it.

To give you the highlights, we had a beautiful two-day hike along the West Rim Trail. Afterwards, Ryan hitched a 45-minute ride to get the car only to realize that Heather had put the keys in her pack without realizing it. What followed was a long five hour excursion including hitch hiking, receiving help from numerous people (including some Aussies), sweltering heat (a mild case of heat exhaustion), separation of the group, reuniting after passing one another at least twice, and finally, a dang good meal at Oscars. We were recipients of amazing generosity throughout it all! What great examples to learn from!

And finally, this past Memorial Day we went to Colorado to visit Gary and Cynthia! We had a great time with them! Heather's family came out for a little weekend visit as well, and we all got to go to Denver to see Wicked! It was amazing! We ended the vacation with a trip to Garden of the Gods - which was so beautiful!!

Colby learns how slippery life can be

Cassie, being a thoughtful and loving mother, shows Colby how slippery life can be with an object lesson of dropping him down a very slippery slide. As in life, fortunately Dad was there to catch him!

Update from the Walchs

The Walchs are enjoying a whirlwind spring. We loved our time in Hawaii and Collin has realized that it may be tough to remain motivated while attending school there. He leaves on August 12th and has his first game on August 15th with the BYUH soccer team. He will return in September to play UC Santa Cruz, Sonoma State and Notre Dame all in Northern CA. It will be fun to have him play here. He is ready to graduate, and we are more than ready to have him do so. His team just won state and will compete in the regionals in June in Las Vegas...oh joy.

Lindsay is driving with her permit. It is an adventure for whoever accompanies her. I think she is improving. I think having your permit for 6 months is a good idea. She is much better at Piano and art, and recently won the Rotary Outstanding Student Award. She works hard and we are very proud of her.

Riley is also working hard in school. He comes at things from a little different angle. He loves guns and is very curious to know what Matt is going to do with all his weapons. Today Riley was going to spend some time at Wilson's work. He was loading up a variety of toys when Gillian told him, "I really think you should do some bonding". "What" said Riley "I think you should not take toys but do some bonding with Dad." Riley who had gone on a father son overnight on Friday with Wilson said, "I bonded all day with him on Saturday, that is enough!"

Gillian is our resident therapist and conscience. She especially likes to tell Riley what to do. She is enjoying Violin and a dance class, and achievement days.

Wilson and I celebrate our 20th anniversary on the 29th. Hard to believe. Luckily he still likes me and has agreed to stay on. He is a great husband and dad, and fixit guy and bishop.

I think we should all participate in this blog. It is an easy and fun way to keep in touch. Thanks Tait for welcoming us aboard.

Hope to see everyone soon!

Of course it is raining!!!

Angela and the girls in the Belfast Capital Building

Giants Causeway

Looking over Drogheda, Ireland. We had a great trip and saw most of the Island. Things have changed but it was still the beautiful country I remember.

Tait's Crash

Last week I crashed into the truck shown above. I was paying attention to my cool bike computer and wasn't looking ahead. Bad habit I know. As you can see from the picture of the bike, it took most of the damage and I am okay, just scratches and bruises.
